Over 2200 Veterans attended StandDown Event

The Maricopa County StandDown kicked off on Thursday, February 9, 2017 and sunset on Friday, February 10, 2017.  More than 2,200 Veterans and their families attended the event and received services from various providers in the community ranging from VA Health Care, Court Services, Employment Services, clothing, meals, two nights motel stay, showers, animal care/shelter and haircuts.

The Yellow Ribbon hiring event flew high at StandDown.  On Thursday, the [email protected] team in partnership with the City of Phoenix Family Services Centers helped veterans and their families prepare for Friday’s hiring event by offering resume reviews and tools on how to navigate the hiring event.  Other resources including utility, rental, and transportation assistance were provided.

A total of 107 were in attendance, and to-date, four veterans were scheduled for second round interviews, and two were offered employment on the spot.  Small tokens of appreciation were given to two wounded warriors in attendance, as well as, the first two individuals that received a job offer.  Navy Federal partnered with [email protected] to provide financial literacy resources and kicked off their mission to extend their membership to include all veterans and their families.  Many veterans and their families took advantage of this resource.
